Lady Jags bedevil Imps 71-41

The Athens Drive Women's Basketball defeated rival Cary Thursday night with a 71-41 win at Cary.

Athens v Cary (A rivalry renewed)

At a point in the not too distant past Cary v Athens girls basketball was a very competitive rivalry that was physical and close as Duke/Carolina.

"We have had some real knock down drag outs with the Imps in the past. Although they are struggling right now, they still are a rival and they will bring their A game."

As a result Irene and Jabia stepped up and had very productive games in the post. The post combined for a terrific night scoring 42 points on 18/25 shooting (72%). As a team the Lady Jags shot 33/57 from the floor just short of 58%.

Coach Danehower post game interview Green Hope Game

Tough loss last night.....It was a bizzare ending to a game and one of the toughest losses I have endured in 9 years of coaching at Athens. We will move on and make a run through the back side of the conference. We have to make something positive out of this situation. We still have a lot to play for and we don't have time to hang our heads. We will get back at it tomorrow
